Happy October Holiday China!

This is the best week so far because on Thursday we attend the school Sports Meet (which essentially means taking the day off to watch chinese kids hurdle themselves through the air to cross some kind of important line and win awards). I love Sports Days.
This is also the best week because on Thursday night I fly with a few friends to Guilin and then on to Yangshou in southern China (below Shanghai). I have been looking forward to this place for a few weeks now; it sounds completely chill. Yangshou is similar to Guilin but less touristy. It is a small town surrounded by water and picturesque mountains, and boasts of excellent rock climbing, hiking, tubing, kayaking, fishing, and cycling. The bars are mostly run by aussies or french people (which means cute accents, wavey brown hair, and possibly some facial stubble). There is live music in every cafe and we are staying at Monkey Jane's Hostel, which is known for it's hoppin rooftop bar patio.
Basically, I will be suspended in heaven for 5-6 days with some really cool people and lots to do outdoors! The last leg of our trip includes taking an overnight sleeper train to Shenzuen, and then a ferry to Hong Kong for a couple of days to meet up with more friends!

So much excitement! So much! If you don't hear from me for awhile, don't worry, I will be back in high heels and black outfits on Sunday, October 10th (just in time to wish I was home for Thanksgiving :( )
Below are some pictures I found of Yangshou, to give you an idea of how happy i will be in about three days.

Missin' you,
xox
